The Aura Sensual Massager is made by Doc Jonson and sold by Pink Cherry Sex Toys. It comes nicely packaged in a sophisticated and sensuous looking box. There is nothing provocative, tacky, rude, or distasteful anywhere on the box and is very much appropriate for gifting. And the closest word to vibrator or sex toy are the words “sensual massager”.

The Aura is conveniently palm-sized and very lightweight. It measures 3 1/4″ long, 1 1/2″ wide and is about 1″ thick. The majority of the body is made of shiny smooth ABS plastic, with a soft and nubby textured section on the underside made of TPR. Both materials are free of phthalates and body safe, however TPR is slightly porous and should not be shared between non fluid bonded partners. I did find that the TPR has quite the surface drag to it, and lubricant is definitely needed for easy gliding. TPR is compatible with both water and silicone based lubricants.

The Aura is powered by 2-N batteries, which are included. They can be easily inserted by sliding the opposite end of the nubby section, revealing the battery compartment. There is no seal, making this toy not waterproof – not even remotely splashproof. This makes it very difficult to clean as I just can’t run it under water. The TPR section is quite close to the battery compartment making it easy for water to get in there. While I’m quite fond of toys that include a set of batteries, I’m not overly fond of N batteries. They are not the type of battery I keep on hand at all times, and I certainly can’t rob the TV remote when in a pinch. It doesn’t seem to go through batteries very quickly though, so at least the batteries don’t have to be replaced very often.

There are 7 speeds of steady vibrations, no patterns. They are controlled by 2 buttons (+ , -) located on the back of the massager. They are quite self-explanatory; To increase the speed continue to press the (+) button, to decrease the speed simple press the (-) until it shuts off. There are two fingers grooves running lengthways along the backside, placing the buttons at your fingertips  making it very easy hold and manipulate this vibrator. The buttons are easy to press and there is no lock button, so the batteries should be taken out if you plan to travel with it, or even during short-term storage to avoid the toy from accidentally being turned on.

I must say – it’s a buzzy little thing, and actually a little too buzzy and hand-numbing for my likings – it even sounds buzzy! They are not weak, but are just not the right frequency for my clit (or my ears!). I prefer the deeper rumbly type of vibrations to the light buzzy ones. I did, however, manage to get achieve a clitoral orgasm. But I’m pretty sure it was induced by the nubby vigorous rubbing – and not vibration induced. So, at least I can say it did do what it’s intended to do – get me off.

Without trying to sound too spoiled, I’ve grown quite fond of powerful, waterproof, easy to clean clit vibes. Sadly the Aura doesn’t sport any of these qualities. Overall, I think this is a rather mediocre vibe with a luxury price tag of $49.99. In my opinion, there are far better clitoral vibrators for the same price, or lower.

Thanks, PinkCherry!
